May/June President's Letter

As is the norm for the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen, May was a very busy month and I am looking forward to a break in the action until we reconvene in August and September. Our pause in monthly meetings takes place from May through August and we will reconvene on September 10th for our next Educational Luncheon and Monday Night Meeting. Circle August 24th on your calendars in anticipation of our annual Sporting Clays Tournament. Sponsorship and registration information is enclosed.

In May, the OCAPL hosted two of our most popular networking events, the fishing and golf tournaments. No surprise to anyone, both events had very strong attendance and received raves of success from those who did attend. The great networking, food, prizes and fun these events provide to our membership are always highlights of the year. Not to be forgotten is the support these events provide to charitable organizations and OCAPL’s Benevolent Fund. Thank you to Bhavin Naik and David Graham for their roles in leading the golf and fishing tournament committees and for once again putting on great events.

As I write this letter oil prices are hovering just a few dollars under $70 and analyst are more optimistic about future prices than they were at the beginning of the year. Natural gas prices still have their challenges but for me, the industry and job environment feel stronger than they have in quite a while. June 20th through 23rd I will be traveling to Denver to attend AAPL’s 64th Annual Meeting, which is always a good barometer to measure the optimism for the industry and the land discipline specifically. I hope to see many of you in attendance as well.

Keep reading to learn more about some of the events mentioned above as well as other interesting articles provided in the May/June Newsletter. It is chock-full of substance that we hope the membership finds useful and entertaining. And don’t forget about our website (www.ocapl.org)! It is a great way to look back at photos from past events as well as stay up to date with what future events and registrations are available to the membership.

As always, should you have any suggestions, questions or concerns regarding OCAPL, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Matt Beavers

2018 OCAPL President
