I hope everyone had a fun and safe Labor Day Holiday with family and friends, celebrating the end of summer and the start of fall. This time of year always makes me reflect on what we’ve accomplished personally and professionally as we look to meet year end goals, enjoy the shades of fall and cooler weather, as well as look forward to spending the holidays with our loved ones and friends.
As we reflect on the success of OCAPL for 2018, let’s not forget all the hard work and dedication put in by our officers and committee chairs, more importantly, the giving of themselves and their time in order to make OCAPL the outstanding organization that it is. It’s truly an honor to serve with such dedicated individuals who do what they do on a consistent basis. OCAPL received several awards for the 2017 calendar year at the annual meeting in Denver, including Local Association of the Year, what an honor and a privilege to enjoy this award with each of you, members in good standing, who should all be proud of this prestigious award.
As we look to end 2018, let’s not forget to encourage others to join OCAPL in order to network, build relationships and establish connections that will very likely lead to lifelong friendships and career path wisdom. I can’t help but reflect on my early time and involvement in OCAPL, getting to know many members, many of whom are no longer with us or have began to enjoy the spoils of retirement, and the bond created with many that still exists today. Our next Educational Luncheon and Monday Night Meeting will be on September 10th, I hope to see you all there.
Finally, I’d like to congratulate Shannon Reed and the entire Sporting Clays Committee for an outstanding tournament once again. Although the weather was a little warm, it wasn’t unbearable, and the attendance was great. I am always impressed with the organization of that event and a big thanks goes to Shannon and the committee for another successful year.
Don’t forget the Weekend Takeoff will be held September 14th-16th at Beavers Bend. Educational Luncheon and Monday Night Meeting on October 1st, and the OCAPL Fun Run, scheduled for October 14th at Wheeler Ferris Wheel Park.
I look forward to seeing everyone at these events, it’s your choice to participate, I encourage you to stay involved and support OCAPL!
