Presenters:
Katie Plas is an Associate at Husch Blackwell, where she handles real estate and mineral rights transactions for renewable energy developers. In her current role, Katie advises clients on mineral title and ownership issues for solar and wind projects, and negotiates the surface waivers and accommodation agreements that allow renewable development to proceed alongside existing mineral interests. Prior to practicing law, she spent several years as a petroleum engineer, where she bridged the gap between landowners and operations and served as a technical witness in civil litigation. Katie holds a bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, cum laude, and a bachelor's degree in Geology, cum laude, both from Marietta College, and a juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where she earned a certificate in Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Energy Law. She is admitted to practice in Missouri and Oklahoma. Katie will be presenting, "The Role that Mineral Rights Play in Renewable Development."

Ian Lang has 15 years of experience in modeling, financial analysis and portfolio development. Most recently, he co-founded Locke Capital, a real property company focused on energy and commercial real estate. Ian has led the development, implementation and divestment of energy assets investments across multiple basins throughout the US. Throughout his career, he has managed more than 750 completed transactions focused on exploiting market inefficiencies, resulting in extreme value creation for investors. Prior to Locke, Ian was the Director of Acquisitions for a boutique energy company. In addition to his experience in energy, he has held consulting and financial analyst roles at Plant Moran and J.P. Morgan. Ian graduated from the University of Kansas with Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Accounting. Ian will be presenting, "Oil and Gas Investing: How Money is Moving Now"
