SEPTEMBER SECRETARY'S LETTER

Happy Fall to everyone! First, thank you to our OCAPL members for supporting our events, attending them, and bringing enthusiasm throughout the year. The quality of events organized by our board members and volunteers is exciting and has gained national recognition from the AAPL.

When our association receives national acknowledgment, it encourages me because it reflects the dedication, volunteer hours, and active participation of our members.

I believe the upcoming days and weeks will bring some of the best opportunities for our membership, and we should embrace the excitement spreading across the industry. The growing need for energy in all forms makes me optimistic about our profession. There is an increasing demand for Landmen specializing in diverse types of energy, whether oil, gas, solar, or wind.

I urge every member, whether a Field Landman or Company Landman, to get involved as much as possible. Encourage your vice-presidents, managers, supervisors, and colleagues to support not only through membership fees but also by attending mixers, lunch-and-learns, dinners, and other events throughout the year. Our networking, camaraderie, and fellowship grow stronger when we have full membership participation.

To substantiate that claim, the 2024 Fall season of OCAPL is shaping up to be our best yet. We already have two events done and nine more scheduled till December, including the first-ever Oklahoma Energy Institute on December 2nd, which coincides with our wonderful Christmas Party!

By the time you read this newsletter, our annual Weekend Take Off will either be happening or already completed, but I must take a moment to thank Amy Love and Larry Coshow for their dedicated service to the board and for managing the Weekend Take Off for so many years. Their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts have made this event special for many of our members, and their hard work does not go unnoticed.

Lastly, October 4th is the deadline for submitting officer nominations to Jerrod Hardegree at jhardegree@osageoilandgas.com. Please take a moment to fill out the form and send it to Jerrod – everyone’s voice is valued.

Sincerely,

P. Chase Payton, CPL
